Solar Ready Vets
The Solar Ready Vets Program is a national training program created by the United States Department of Energy, which is designed to get transitioning soldiers and veterans jobs in the solar industry. The program is a five-week, 200-hour training program that covers the material needed to pass the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) PV Associate level exam. Material covered during this course includes: basic electricity, system design, cost justification, safety training, and hands on training with solar equipment, as well as resume writing and interview techniques. The training culminates with students completing a solar PV installation. Students are also provided with opportunities to interview directly with solar companies. The course is delivered over five weeks with classes running daily for eight hours per day.
